Following the recommendation in the FAZ Kaufkompass in January, the AUGLETICS Eight Style was also tested by SPIEGEL – with a very positive result. In a comparison of several rowing machines, our model was able to prevail in many categories and was rated as the test winner.
The test at a glance
Four rowing machines for home use were tested:
- AUGLETICS Eight Style
- Concept2 RowErg
- Skandika Styrke Premium
- Domyos 500B (Decathlon)
The test criteria included training quality, workmanship, ease of use, operating volume and additional functions such as software and training programs.
What convinced SPIEGEL
The AUGLETICS Eight Style was particularly highlighted for the following features:
- Quiet operation thanks to electronically controlled magnetic brake
- Intelligent training guidance via the integrated display with technical information and programs
- Solid workmanship and modern design
- Production in Germany, which is rare in this product category
The software guides you through varied programs, and a trainer on the display gives tips on rowing technique. This feels well thought-out and motivating.

Point of criticism: The price
One of the few points of criticism was the comparatively high price. SPIEGEL writes:
“The only drawback: The Eight Style is by far the most expensive device in the test – but also the highest quality.”
This assessment is understandable. The higher price is due to the complex technology, the high-quality workmanship and the production in Germany.
Tested used devices as an alternative
For those who want to save a little, AUGLETICS currently offers a limited number of tested used devices.
These devices come from the 30-day test program, so they were only used briefly and then technically checked, cleaned and equipped with new accessories. They are visually and functionally hardly distinguishable from new devices – but cost €400 less.

Classification and outlook
The very good rating by SPIEGEL is an important confirmation for us. We are particularly pleased that, in addition to the training quality, the overall concept of the device with sophisticated software and sustainable production was also rated positively.
The comparison with other devices in the test also shows how different the approaches in the home rowing sector are – from classic air resistance to the digital training platform.
